single “LATA”*
*(Local Access Transport Area)
(For example Pendleton to Salem is Intra-LATA because
both cities are in the Portland LATA)

• Inter-LATA calls are calls that cross a LATA boundary.
(Salem to Albany is Inter-LATA because it goes from the
Portland LATA to the Eugene LATA)

• Please note that SRCI is in the Boise LATA. All Oregon
calls from SRCI that are not local will be Inter-LATA. (But
not Inter-state)

• Inter-State calls cross a state line.
•
• LATA boundaries do not always follow state lines. Note that
Ontario is in the Boise, Idaho LATA and part of southern
Washington is in the Portland LATA. While some phone
companies charge a separate rate for areas that cross both a
LATA boundary and a state line, FSH does not. Calls from
Portland to the Washington part of the Portland LATA are charged as if they were in Oregon.
