A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to the provision of telephone
services to individuals in custody in city correctional facilities
Be it enacted by the Council as follows:
Section 1. Chapter 1 of title 9 of the administrative code of the city of New York is amended by adding
a new section 9-154 to read as follows:
§ 9-154 Telephone services to inmates. The city shall provide telephone services to individuals within
the custody of the department in city correctional facilities at no cost to the individuals or the receiving parties
for domestic telephone calls. The city shall not be authorized to receive or retain any revenue for providing
telephone services.
§ 2. This local law takes effect 270 days after it becomes law.
